Dependent Living Facility
The location of the building, at the intersection of main roads, necessitated a building constructed lengthwise. To overcome the lack of rhythm that can be engendered by constructions that are too slender, the project plays upon recesses that are reinforced by the contrast between the colorless stained concrete bodies, which appear only in the upper part, and the protruding wooden formwork of the ground floor, which maintain the terraces and loggias.
The 101 beds of this dependent living facility will accommodate two types of patients. Two units are dedicated to the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and are situated on the ground and first floors. Each of these units has a walking garden designed with "discovery paths." The two services dedicated to those who are more cognitively oriented are located on the first and second floors, and each room has a terrace. Moreover, on the ground floor, the building has a large shared lounge and several dining rooms where the windows are all open toward a vast tree-lined park and gardens. An imposing overhang protects access.
